EU Not So Sweet On Suedzucker’s $255M Sugar Co. Deal

Law360, New York (November 10, 2011, 11:54 AM EST) -- The European Commission has opened an in-depth antitrust investigation into Europe's largest sugar and molasses producer Suedzucker AG's $255 million bid to acquire control over ED&F Man, the world's second-largest sugar trader, the regulator said Thursday.

The companies announced on May 18 that they had inked a deal for Germany's Suedzucker to buy a 25 percent stake minus one share in London-based ED&F Man.
