Environmental Group Challenges Bush Energy Plan

Law360 (July 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Center for Biological Diversity said Monday that it had sued the Bush administration for not studying the environmental impact of 21 offshore oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska and Virginia.

According to the lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, the upcoming lease sales would destroy “pristine and sensitive marine habitat” and generate more than 4 billion tons of greenhouse gases over their expected lifespans.
