Canada Files Brief Supporting RIM In BlackBerry Patent Case

Law360, New York (January 18, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a highly unusual step, Canada’s federal government has intervened in the closely watched patent dispute between a U.S. company and BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Inc.

Last week, the Canadian Department of Justice filed an amicus curiae brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, urging the court to grant RIM's request for a rehearing before all 15 judges of the federal appeals circuit.
