NHTSA Steps Up Probe Into Saturn Aura

Law360, New York (November 14, 2011, 5:31 PM EST) -- Federal transportation regulators on Thursday ramped up an investigation into gear shift problems reported in 2007 and 2008 models of General Motors LLC's now-discontinued Saturn Aura — an issue that has been tied to at least seven crashes.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a transmission shift cable in the models may fail and cause the car to move in unintended ways.
