DOI, BLM Sued Over Drilling Permit Delay

Law360, New York (November 14, 2011, 5:56 PM EST) -- Brigham Exploration Co. sued U.S. drilling regulators in federal court Monday, accusing them of improperly dragging their feet in reviewing the oil and gas company's permit applications to drill on federal lands in North Dakota.

Brigham's suit, which names the U.S. Department of Interior and its Bureau of Land Management, claims that the agency hasn't acted at all on three of Brigham's permit applications to drill in North Dakota's McKenzie County, in violation of federal law.
