Law360, New York (November 30, 2011, 3:02 PM EST) -- Wind energy companies are eyeing master limited partnerships as a means to raise needed capital, but the players who have long enjoyed the benefits of that business structure — private equity, oil and gas companies — could pose as an obstacle to that effort.

The partnership structure offers companies generous tax advantages while also providing the opportunity to raise money from the public. But only businesses authorized by statute can use it.
