S. Korea’s Opposition Party Rejects Offer On FTA

Law360, San Diego (November 16, 2011, 4:09 PM EST) -- South Korea’s opposition party on Wednesday reportedly refused to accept a proposal by the country’s president that would clear the way for a free trade agreement with the U.S.

President Lee Myung-bak on Tuesday promised to seek renegotiation of a controversial investor-state settlement provision if the FTA was ratified first, but South Korea’s Democratic Party rejected the offer during a general session, according to a news report by Korean publication Maeil Business Newspaper.
