Ill. Court Nixes Club Owners' Sentences For Fatal Stampede

Law360, New York (November 16, 2011, 9:11 PM EST) -- An Illinois appeals court overturned the convictions and two-year prison sentences of two club owners Wednesday in a suit over the deaths of 21 people in a 2003 nightclub stampede, ruling the underlying order requiring the Chicago club to be closed was vague and ambiguous.
