Judge Hears Pretrial Motions In eSpeed, BrokerTec Patent Suit

Law360, New York (January 20, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- eSpeed is entitled to tell the jury that its patent for an electronic trading platform is presumptively valid, a judge has ruled in pretrial motions in the closely watched patent dispute between the two leaders in inter-dealer brokering of U.S. Treasury securities.

U.S. District Judge Kent Jordan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware said other pre-trial issues in the patent dispute between Cantor Fitzgerald's eSpeed Inc. and ICAP PLC's BrokerTec USA LLC would be considered next week.
