Law360, New York (November 29, 2011, 1:09 PM EST) -- On Aug. 23, 2011, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed to expand regulation of oil and natural gas operations under the New Source Performance Standard (NSPS) program for the Oil and Natural Gas source category pursuant to Section 111 of the federal Clean Air Act.[1]

Analysis of the proposed regulation has focused primarily on the technical and economic assumptions on which the proposed rule is based. However, the proposed NSPS regulations might well portend that the EPA is considering another significant expansion of the regulatory framework...
