House OKs Bill To Override NLRB Union Election Changes

Law360, New York (December 1, 2011, 6:00 PM EST) -- The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday designed to prevent the National Labor Relations Board from going through with new union election procedure rules that opponents claim would unreasonably fast-track the election process.

In a 235-188 vote, Congressional lawmakers cleared the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act, which is designed to stifle union election rule changes the NLRB proposed in June that would institute a reduced time frame for the election process.
