German Energy Cos. Probed By Cartel Office

Law360, New York (July 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- German energy giants RWE AG and E.ON AG are facing regulatory probes after the two companies were accused of abusing a European Union emissions trading system by selling their carbon dioxide emissions certificates at a severely marked up price, German regulators said Tuesday.

Germany's Federal Cartel Office, called the Bundeskartellamt, said that it expects to announce a ruling in its investigation of the companies by the end of the summer.
