GOP Sens. Urge FTC To Probe $29B Express Scripts Merger

Law360, Los Angeles (December 5, 2011, 8:44 PM EST) -- Three Republican senators sent a letter Friday to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission asking the regulator to investigate Express Scripts Inc.'s proposed $29 billion acquisition of rival Medco Health Solutions Inc., suggesting the deal might lead to higher costs for patients and pharmacies.

Sens. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Jerry Moran, R-Kan., have added their names to a growing list of advocacy groups and industry leaders who have voiced concerns about the potential impact a merger could have on consumers.
