Exxon Mobil May Hit BP With Contribution Claim

Law360, New York (July 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. may file a contribution claim against BP PLC's Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. to recover some of the costs associated with the 1989 Valdez tanker spill, BP has disclosed.

BP, which owns a 47% stake in Alyeska, said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it had already settled all lawsuits against it for its role in the spill, and that it would vigorously defend any claims brought by Exxon Mobil.
