USTR Weighs Japan, Mexico, Canada Joining TPP Talks

Law360, New York (December 6, 2011, 7:16 PM EST) -- The U.S. Trade Representative's office on Tuesday asked for public comments on bids by Japan, Canada and Mexico to join the ongoing negotiations over the Trans-Pacific Partnership pact, which aims to eliminate tariffs on goods traded among the member nations.

Officials from Mexico, Japan and Canada have all recently expressed interest in beginning consultations with the current nine Trans-Pacific Partnership countries toward joining the agreement, the USTR said in Federal Register notices seeking comment on potential concerns that could be raised by the three countries' current...
