Don't Tie Keystone To Payroll Tax Cut Bill: Obama To GOP

Law360, New York (December 7, 2011, 7:19 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Wednesday warned congressional Republicans that he would reject any effort to tie the renewal of a payroll tax cut to the approval of TransCanada Corp.'s controversial Keystone XL pipeline project.

Renewing the tax break is something U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate Republicans should want to approve regardless of any other issues, and they shouldn't hold the payroll tax holiday hostage, Obama said at a press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
