FTC Warns Against Abuses Of Face-Recognition Features

Law360, New York (December 8, 2011, 3:48 PM EST) -- The head of the Federal Trade Commission stressed Thursday the agency would take a hard line on companies that violate consumers' privacy using fast-developing facial recognition technology.

The agency will “vigorously enforce the law if we see a violation” of privacy through a facial recognition feature, FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz told an audience gathered for a workshop on the technology.
