US Ramps Up WTO Fight Over Chinese Chicken Duties

Law360, New York (December 8, 2011, 2:58 PM EST) -- The U.S. is requesting that the World Trade Organization establish a dispute settlement panel to look into China’s imposition of anti-dumping and countervailing duties on imports of U.S. chicken broiler products, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said Thursday.

China hit the U.S. with the duties in August and September 2010, alleging that the products were sold at a less than fair market value in the country, according to the USTR.

Since the imposition of the duties, U.S., exports have fallen by nearly 90 percent, Kirk said....
