House, Senate Will Fast-Track New Pipeline Safety Bill
Law360, New York (December 9, 2011, 6:42 PM EST) -- Lawmakers from the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate have merged three bills updating pipeline safety regulations into a single piece of legislation to be voted on by both chambers, the head of the House Energy and Commerce Committee announced Thursday.
The "Pipeline Safety, Regulatory Certainty and Job Creation Act of 2011," created in the wake of several pipeline accidents in the last year, contains provisions from two bills making their way through the House and one already passed by the Senate in October, which lawmakers hope will ensure speedy passage by both chambers of Congress.
