Lawsuit Blasts PTO's Management, Performance

Law360 (July 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A lawsuit has been filed against U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez alleging that his April appointment of Margaret Peterlin as under secretary of commerce for intellectual property and deputy director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office was an abuse of power and a violation of federal law.

The lawsuit was lodged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday on behalf of four plaintiffs.
