Media Companies Blast Proposed Antitrust Settlement

Law360, New York (July 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An offer by several national royalty collection agencies to settle an antitrust suit brought by the European Commission has angered several of Europe's biggest media companies, which denounced the settlement in a letter to regulators.

A total of 27 companies, including RTL Group SA, Deutsche Telekom AG and France Telecom, sent a letter to European Union President Jose Barroso and EC Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes on Tuesday urging them to reject the proposed settlement, which would bring an end to the long-running dispute over competition concerns...
