Explosions Lead To Battery Pack Recall

Law360, New York (July 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Power tool maker Milwaukee Electric Tool Co. has voluntarily recalled about 1 million battery packs after a few of them exploded while in use.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which announced the recall on Tuesday, all consumers should stop using Milwaukee Power Plus, Chicago Pneumatic and Extractor 14.4 and 18 volt 2.4 amp-hour NiCd battery packs, which power drills, saws, radios, flashlights, wrenches and Extractor windshield glass removers.

The Brookfield, Wis.-based company said no Li-lon or NiMH packs were affected by the recall....
