Washington Gas To Pay $730K For River Pollution Cleanup

Law360, New York (December 12, 2011, 5:50 PM EST) -- Washington Gas Light Co. has agreed to pay more than $730,000 and clean up pollution at a Superfund site along the Anacostia River in Washington to settle a suit brought by the U.S. government, federal regulators said Monday.

The regulators filed suit against WGL Monday alleging cleanup obligations under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, the same day both parties filed a consent decree resolving those allegations.
