Judge Sides With FTC In ProMedica Merger Challenge

Law360, New York (December 12, 2011, 5:35 PM EST) -- An administrative law judge has backed the Federal Trade Commission's antitrust challenge to ProMedica Health System Inc.'s recent acquisition of St. Luke's Hospital, the Ohio health care provider said Monday.

While a formal opinion has not been issued yet, the hospital has been verbally notified of the judge's decision, ProMedica spokeswoman Tedra White said. ProMedica plans to appeal the decision.

"We are very disappointed in this decision and do not believe it is in the best interest of our community," White said.
