Contractor Cops To $1M MFA Kickback Scheme

Law360, New York (December 12, 2011, 5:37 PM EST) -- A contractor pled guilty in Virginia federal court on Monday to paying a Medical Facilities of America Inc. employee kickbacks in exchange for more than $1 million in contracts at company-owned health care and nursing home facilities.

Gary L. Johns conspired with others to rig contract awards at MFA facilities across Virginia from March 2006 until at least December 2006, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, which has already prosecuted other contractors for alleged improprieties in connection with the company's contracts.
