Aussie Privacy Czar Probes Telstra Data Breach

Law360, New York (December 13, 2011, 1:24 PM EST) -- Australia's privacy commissioner is formally probing a Telstra Corp. Ltd. data breach that the telecommunications company said potentially exposed 60,000 customer passwords or user IDs, the commissioner revealed Monday.

Privacy Commissioner Timothy Pilgrim said that he has asked Telstra to provide a detailed report on the data breach and that he hoped to release the results of his probe in late January.
