Travelers Seeks $1M Cap On Highway Tar Spill Claims

Law360, New York (December 13, 2011, 4:03 PM EST) -- Travelers Indemnity Co. sought a declaration Friday that it only needs to pay up to $1 million for the nearly 1,000 claims related to car damage allegedly caused by a pre-Thanksgiving asphalt spill on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The insurer filed an interpleader complaint in Pennsylvania federal court against 900-plus individuals and insurance companies over its coverage responsibility for the spill.
