EU OKs IBM Antitrust Remedies In Mainframe Probe

Law360, New York (December 14, 2011, 2:38 PM EST) -- The European Commission on Wednesday accepted IBM Corp.'s offer to make it easier for independent mainframe service providers to access spare parts to settle concerns that it may have abused its dominance in the mainframe computer market.

The European Union antitrust watchdog made the commitments binding and closed its investigation into whether the technology giant had put unreasonable conditions on outside mainframe maintenance companies in order to thwart competition for repair services.
