More Must Be Done To Ensure Competition: Report

Law360, New York (July 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Though opening markets to increased competition has benefited both companies and their customers, some European Union member states have lagged behind in introducing reforms, especially in the energy sector, according to a European Commission study.

In a report released on Friday, regulators found that the opening of the telecommunications, transport and utilities industries “has benefited users by putting pressure on service providers to keep their costs and prices down.”
