Senate Panel OKs Bill For Solar Permitting Grants

Law360, New York (December 15, 2011, 4:38 PM EST) -- A U.S. Senate Committee passed legislation Thursday that would provide grants for local governments to develop more efficient, cost-effective permitting standards for installing solar energy systems.

The bill, called the 10 Million Solar Roofs Act of 2011, aims to help communities around the country install a combined 10 million solar energy units by the end of 2020 and contribute to the U.S. Department of Energy's goal of achieving cost reductions for solar energy prices.
