DOJ Reserves Right To Appeal Fumo's 5-Year Sentence

Law360, New York (December 16, 2011, 6:27 PM EST) -- The government is considering appealing ex-Pennsylvania Sen. Vincent Fumo's prison sentence of five years and one month for defrauding the state Senate, a museum and a nonprofit of millions of dollars, prosecutors said Friday.

The U.S. Attorney's Office filed a notice of appeal of the prison sentence, which was significantly lower than the 15 years it had sought for the former Philadelphia lawmaker accused of using Senate funds and political power for personal gain.
