Doctors Group Can't Revamp Federal Food Pyramid: Judge

Law360, New York (December 19, 2011, 4:01 PM EST) -- A nonprofit physicians group cannot force the federal government to replace its MyPyramid food diagram with a new diagram encouraging less consumption of meat and cheese, a Washington federal judge ruled Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leon dismissed a suit by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, ruling the federal food pyramid and dietary guidelines published by the U.S. departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services were not subject to judicial review.
