BC Hydro Should Share Smart Grid Privacy Info: Watchdog

Law360, New York (December 20, 2011, 3:35 PM EST) -- The British Columbia Hydro Power Authority needs to improve its communication with customers to address privacy concerns surrounding a $930 million smart meter installation project, the province’s privacy commissioner said Monday. 

While BC Hydro is complying with the Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act with regard to the collection, use, disclosure, protection and retention of the personal information of its customers, it has failed to meet its customer notification obligations under the act, according to a report released by Information and Privacy Commissioner Elizabeth Denham....
