US Says Plant Needs More Time To Secure RCRA Permit

Law360, New York (December 21, 2011, 3:13 PM EST) -- The U.S. government asked an Arkansas federal court Tuesday to approve a one-year extension of a deadline for Rineco Chemical Industries Inc. to obtain a final Resource Conservation and Recovery Act permit for its operations converting hazardous waste into fuel.

A consent decree approved in August 2010 established an original deadline of Oct. 14 for Rineco to lock down a final RCRA permit and required the company to pay a $1.35 million civil penalty. The Benton, Ark., facility was told it would have to shut down...
