UK To End Competition Order On Home Appliances

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 1:22 PM EST) -- The U.K.’s antitrust watchdog has provisionally decided to end a nearly 14-year-old order aimed at fostering competition in the home appliance industry, it said Thursday.

The Competition Commission said it has concluded that a number of positive changes have taken place in the market for goods such as televisions and washing machines that have significantly increased competition and removed the need for the order’s intended safeguards.
