BP Rejects Halliburton Indemnity Bid In Deepwater MDL

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 6:57 PM EST) -- BP PLC fired back at Halliburton Energy Services Inc.’s demand for indemnification for claims in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill multidistrict litigation in Louisiana on Wednesday, arguing it was too early to determine whether it was obligated to cover the company.

Halliburton, which built the cement casing on the ill-fated Macondo well, is asking the court to force BP to indemnify it for all pollution and contamination claims related to the disaster, saying BP is required to do so under an offshore drilling contract....
