John Edwards Wants Trial Delayed Over Medical Issue

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 9:25 PM EST) -- Former presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. John Edwards on Thursday asked a North Carolina federal court to delay his scheduled January trial over accusations that he siphoned funds from $1 million in allegedly unlawful campaign donations to mask an affair.

In a motion filed in the Middle District of North Carolina, Edwards’ attorneys asked for another 60 days to prepare for trial, citing an unexpected medical issue and the voluminous discovery documents through which they’re still sifting. Edwards' medical issue was filed under seal.
