Capitol Hill Tunnel Workers Settle Whistleblower Case

Law360, New York (July 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Ten U.S. Capitol Tunnel Shop employees have reached a settlement with their employer, the Architect of the Capitol, in a whistleblower retaliation case, attorneys for the workers said Monday.

The out-of-court settlement resolves a complaint the men filed with the Congressional Office of Compliance in October 2006. In the complaint, the workers charged that the Architect of the Capitol threatened, harassed and insulted them after they went public with claims that the utility tunnels they worked in beneath Capitol Hill contained hazardous levels of asbestos and...
