WikiLeaks Backers Can't Block US' Access To Twitter Data

Law360, New York (January 5, 2012, 5:33 PM EST) -- A Virginia federal judge on Wednesday refused to halt an order directing Twitter Inc. to hand over information to U.S. prosecutors regarding the accounts of three people associated with WikiLeaks while those individuals appeal the electronic records demand.

U.S. District Judge Liam O'Grady, who backed the issuance of the order in November, blasted the petitioners' likelihood of success on appeal. Appeals courts have determined there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in Internet Protocol addressing information, as the petitioners contend, the judge said.
