WTO Extends Appeal Deadline On COOL Requirements

Law360, New York (January 5, 2012, 4:54 PM EST) -- The World Trade Organization agreed Thursday to give the U.S., Canada and Mexico another two months to decide whether to appeal a decision finding that U.S. country-of-origin labeling requirements for pork and beef run afoul of WTO rules.

At the joint request of all three countries, the WTO’s Dispute Settlement Body said in a statement that it would extend the deadline to March 23 for the adoption or appeal of the panel’s finding regarding country-of-origin labeling requirements.
