Fireman's Fund, Hartford Settle $21M Asbestos Fight

Law360, New York (January 6, 2012, 6:03 PM EST) -- Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. on Thursday settled a long-running $21 million dispute in Ohio federal court with Hartford Accident and Indemnity Co. and auto parts supplier Dana Corp. over Dana's asbestos litigation costs.

Fireman's Fund's suit against Hartford, launched in April 2003, sought to recover a portion of the $20 million the insurer spent defending Dana in asbestos litigation and related suits and the $1.1 million it shelled out in settlements. Hartford insured Dana after the company's coverage policy with Fireman's Fund expired.
