Swiss Bank Chief Denies Making Illegal Currency Deals

Law360, New York (January 5, 2012, 10:46 PM EST) -- The president of the Swiss National Bank on Thursday denied he improperly profited from currency transactions he and his wife had made before the bank weakened the Swiss franc in September, but acknowledged that the transactions could raise questions about his integrity.

In a statement, SNB President Philipp Hildebrand noted that audits of his family's financial records performed by both Swiss financial authorities and SNB's external auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers found no indication of any transactions in which inside knowledge of confidential bank information was used.
