Court OKs Occidental, Bridgestone's $2M Superfund Deal

Law360, New York (January 6, 2012, 2:58 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge has approved a $2.1 million settlement between the U.S. government and Occidental Chemical Corp., an Occidental affiliate and Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC for the cleanup of groundwater contamination at a Superfund site, according to an order made public Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Jan DuBois greenlighted a consent decree under which Occidental and its affiliate Glenn Springs Holdings Inc. — but not Bridgestone — are also on the hook for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's future response costs at the Occidental Superfund...
