Jury Rules Against Ariba in Patent Case

Law360, New York (February 8, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal court in Virginia has found that software maker Ariba Inc. infringed three patents held by rival ePlus, Inc. for electronic procurement systems.

A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia declined to invalidate the three patents at issue and found that Ariba infringed certain claims contained in the three patents, the company said.

ePlus filed the infringement action in May, claiming that certain features in three of Ariba's products, Ariba Buyer, Ariba Marketplace and Ariba Category Procurement, infringed claims...
