Handicap Claim Pared From Ex-Dechert Atty's Bias Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (January 11, 2012, 5:51 PM EST) -- A Massachusetts federal judge on Friday trimmed a handicap discrimination claim from a former Dechert LLP associate's suit that alleges he was fired by the firm because he took too much time off to care for his mentally ill wife.

U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton ruled that under Massachusetts law, Ariel Ayanna cannot bring a claim alleging that he was subject to discrimination because of his association with a handicapped person.
