Korean Shipping Co. Cops To Illegal Dumping, Fined $1M

Law360, New York (January 11, 2012, 6:27 PM EST) -- A South Korean shipping company and two of its engineers pled guilty Tuesday to illegally dumping oily bilge waste into American waters last year, and the company was slapped with a $1.15 million penalty.

Keoje Marine Co. Ltd. pled guilty in Hawaii federal court to all three felony charges it faced, including violation of the Clean Water Act, failure to maintain an accurate oil record book and obstruction of justice.
