Nissan Latest Defendant In HPL's Texting Patent Blitz

By Megan Leonhardt (January 12, 2012, 1:00 PM EST) -- Helferich Patent Licensing LLC added another name to a growing list of litigants on Tuesday when it sued Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. in Arizona, alleging the carmaker infringed three mobile alert technology patents by sending text messages to customers.

The suit against Nissan and local Nissan dealership Midway Holdings Inc. comes a little less than a month after HPL lodged a suit against the Arizona Republic and its publisher Phoenix Newspapers Inc. over the same patents.
