Ford Calls Back 450K Escapes, Freestars, Montereys

Law360, New York (January 11, 2012, 5:03 PM EST) -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly half a million Ford Escape sport utility vehicles and Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans after discovering problems with components in the vehicles' automatic transmissions and antilock brake systems, regulators said Tuesday.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration said Ford had notified the agency about two recalls affecting nearly 206,000 Freestar and Monterey minivans with model years 2004 and 2005 and more than 244,500 Escape SUVs with model years 2001 and 2002.
