Sembcorp Eyes Vietnamese Coal Plant Project

Law360, New York (January 12, 2012, 1:55 PM EST) -- Singapore conglomerate Sembcorp Industries Ltd. continues to look to Vietnam for large-scale projects and is moving ahead with plans to build a coal-fired power plant for a burgeoning industrial zone, the company announced Thursday.

Sembcorp Utilities, the group’s energy and water solutions arm, inked an agreement with authorities in the Quang Ngai Province in central Vietnam to examine the feasibility of constructing of a 1,200-megawatt coal-fired plant in the region’s Dung Quat economic zone, which has been designated a hub for oil refining and petrochemical industries,...
