Fireplace Co.’s Trade Secret Claims Spark ITC Interest

Law360, New York (January 13, 2012, 3:03 PM EST) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission on Friday agreed to investigate Twin-Star International Inc.’s claims that an ex-employee used stolen trade secrets to start a rival fireplace manufacturer in China, in violation of a confidentiality agreement.

Twin-Star and its parent company TS Holdings Inc. filed a Section 337 complaint with the ITC on Dec. 13 alleging former employee Yue Qiu Sheng stole plans for an electric fireplace prototype, as well as customer and supplier information lists.
